Behind the mask
“…We all sometimes live behind the mask – by choice, by requirements or just for fun. Sometimes we are forced to hide behind the mask – because of our sexual orientation, an HIV diagnosis or a certain lifestyle.
I too have chosen, or sometimes been forced to hide behind the mask and in the process become another person, adjusting or adapting to the needs of society…
There are many people, who have given me the courage, the wisdom and the energy that has allowed me to drop my mask. Many of those people are no longer here because of a virus called HIV. But, I know that your stars are shining brightly, and I know you are smiling down on me and us, as we find the courage to come out from behind the mask…
I ask all of us, and those who are still wearing their mask to please remove these masks, and for once allow us to simply be, to appreciate and to respect!..”
